Discover some of the best views of the mighty Ullswater - without climbing to the top of Place Fell - with this moderate walk from the village of Patterdale.

Parking Pay Car Park opposite Patterdale Hotel

Public Transport By Bus - 108 & 208

Toilets/Refreshments None on route - nearest

• From the car park, turn right and walk along the road.

• Head on the public footpath between the school.

• Follow the track over the bridge and through the buildings of Side Farm.

• Turn left after the farm and follow the track up towards Devil's Chimney.

• Taking care over the rocks, trek down the path before climbing again to reach Silver Crag.

• To get to Silver Point, bear left and climb to the point.

• Once off Sliver Point, head left, past a small stream and then right at the split in the path.

• Care is needed on the climb.

• Then gradually follow the path down, past old quarry workings on your left.

• Bear right, cross the footbridge leading to a gate at the end of the track.

• Go left through the gate, and turn right on the road to head back to the car park.
