Route Directions

  • If you're parking along the A592, there should be some parking along this part of the road.

  • With 450-year old place of worship, Jesus church on the right, turn right onto the lane Green Gate.

  • Follow this lane around the see the main part of Troutbeck.

  • Ahead is Troutbeck's Post Office Shop and Village Institute which is widely regarded as the heart of the village.

  • Turn left and immediately follow the path forking off to the right - this is Robin Lane.

  • Following Robin Lane around towards the right.

  • A footpath branches out to the left towards Ambleside - ignore this and carry on Robin Lane.

  • Robin Lane changes to Hundreds Lane and head through the gate.

  • At the waterfall - Hol Beck - leave the lane and head on the right along the National Trust permitted route.

  • The only major obstacle on the walk is the fixed gate and stile - climb the stile and head towards the next gate by following the dry stone wall on the left.

  • Go through the gate to the right, and continue the ascent to Wansell Pike's summit.

  • Once at the summit, take in the view of the Lake District from above.

  • To return, head back down the path towards the last gate.

  • At the gate head straight on instead of turning back right.

  • Follow the lane back down towards to Troutbeck following the signs.

  • Upon reaching the road within the village, turn left and head towards Town Head part.

  • At The Mortal Man pub, turn right and follow the lane down and to the right.

  • Turn left following the bend of the lane and upon reaching the A592 turn right to get back to Limefitt Park.
